I have been truly amazed at how much enjoyment and satisfaction I get from my blog. It makes me feel like I am surrounded by like minded friends who all love the same thing. I managed to get over 200 followers and more than 7000 views. So, to say thank you, I am giving away 2 charm packs. They are Soho calico’s. I love the colors. Lots of teals and greens. I figured that 2 charm packs can easily be turned into something awesome. I have recently started a “Zipper Quilt” with two of my favorite charm packs. I am sure I will show some photos as soon as I have a bit more to show.

How truly unusual. I feel like I am sometimes on the 10 year plan.
This one is older than my daughter (she is the one peaking over the top). That makes it 13+ years and I am pretty sure it may have actually been started in the late 1990’s….It was definitely prior to 2002. I remember the house I was living in when I started this.
So, all that aside, I actually like this quilt. While it is sort of scrappy, it sort of isn’t. There are a lot of Asian themed fabrics, which I always find 
pretty. So, I don’t hate the quilting. It was a new venture for me to do something other than meandering. Although there is
some meandering. I remember that I bought the backing a long time ago also. It looked like bamboo leaves, so I remember grabbing it when I saw it. Of course I see every quilting mistake (and there are a lot), but I am trying not to focus on those. I think this has 
helped me to move onto quilting or at least try quilting other designs in my quilts. I have no idea what I am doing it with it. For now, I will hang on to it and wait until the right time to give it away or donate it to charity.

I found this fabric so cute. Could be because I have an addiction to Diet Pepsi. Too bad they did not have diet Pepsi fabric. That would have made it even more awesome for me. I found that I take my English paper piecing projects around with me in Ziploc baggies. Didn’t seem right for a quilter. So I just created this bag. Now I have plenty of room for all my English paper piecing stuff that I haul around whenever I will be waiting somewhere. Can’t stand just doing nothing.

I wasn’t sure if I was gonna make it, but I did. I actually got this quilt quilted. This is the UFO 
older than my daughter (who just turned 13). This Sunday I was going to post an update. I even had a video, but can not post videos unless I upgrade. Might have to consider that. I thought I was going to finish on Sunday, but had sewing machine issues for about three hours. Was just about ready to give up, when I just re threaded the machine and Wala, it worked. Felt like a total idiot.
So, the quilt is off the frame and ready for trimming and binding. Not sure of I will make that my next monthly goal or not. The jury is still out on that one.
Initially, I don’t hate the quilting. But, as I trim it and see all my mistakes, that will likely come.
I am happy that I decided to do something other than meandering. I just have to remember not to nitpick. I did do meandering around the lanterns, but everywhere else I did Bamboo. Good thing Leah Day has all those tutorials. While oddly, my lines look a bit straight than hers, this pattern is pretty forgiving.

Well, once again, my quilting ADD took over. Worked on a multitude of projects instead of spending all my time on my one monthly project. I did spend a little time on it, but I made the mistake of doing a little shopping, which makes my mind wander to other projects.
I bought some lovely fabric (you can never have enough). So, I find the cutest dog fabric on the clearance rack. As the crazy dog lady, it was my duty to purchase some. Then I found some Pepsi fabric. As soon as I saw it I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it (I will get to that later). Then, I found some giraffe fabric. Since my daughter and I (and a lot of other crazy people) have been watching/waiting for April the giraffe to have her baby. I will likely make some sort of Giraffe applique and save it for my daughter.
So, about that Pepsi fabric. I have to admit, my one vice is Diet Pepsi. I am also a quilter that takes her handwork projects (Hospital Hexies) in a non-quilters bag. So, I decided that I would make a bag to carry my projects around when I am working mobile. I mean I am a quilter after all, so I think it is appropriate that I have a quilted bag. Duh. So, I will use that Pepsi fabric to make a bag. I am sort of winging it (no pattern). But, it will be quilted. And yes, I have already started it. I should have been working on my “One Monthly Goal” project.
I almost forgot about the Fruit Loop Fabric. It was just plain old cute. I also have a Jar UFO that needs finished and a jar of fruit loops sounded awesome.

Well, I finished the topper for one nightstand. Now I need to quilt it and get it on the 
nightstand. Two more to go and all of the bedroom furniture will have some protection. So, you can tell this one is not for my side of the bed, although, I love the dog bone fabric, and of course Ohio state. The blue plaid is actually a cotton shirt that got a hole in it. It was one of Kevin’s favorites (and mine), so I decided to cut it up and use it somewhere else. Worked perfectly and was 100% cotton. All though he did look at me like I was some kind of weirdo when I cut the arm off his shirt and started to use it for something other than a rag.
So nearing the completion of this piece, I watched a Jenny Doan video on English Paper Piecing and 
instead of sewing down the corners, they glued it. Never thought of that and it saved a ton of time. You can see here on the back how I 
sewed most of them and then started using my glue stick. Looks the same on the front and once it is quilted, who is going to know? Has me considering some other shapes for my “Sit on the couch” projects.
Made some progress on my “One Monthly goal for March”. Need to make more. It is not going to bad. About 20% complete.

As I go through the many many boxes of miscellaneous quilt boxes (like it’s Christmas for me). I am coming across projects that I started and never finished for whatever reason.
I could guess that this never got finished because, well, I got pregnant and my daughter was born. I am sure that is why I know that I started this quilt in 2003. I am not sure I remember why. The colored part is actually one piece of fabric with all the multi colored batiks. I sometimes can’t remember what I ate for lunch, but I remember that I bought this not in the quilting fabric area. It was actually in the clothing fabric area. Weird the things you remember. I most likely remember because I thought it was interesting and since it was not in the quilting fabric, it was way less expensive. I love a bargain. It is high quality fabric too.
Now to the odd issues. So, the black in this quilt is defiantly 100% cotton, but the fabric seams weak. I had a couple of seems that were previously torn out (like 13 years ago).. When i resewed these seams the fabric just fell apart. It happened on a couple of pieces. So, then I took a square to see how easy it would come apart if pulled at both sides. It was way to easy. With my rheumatoid arthritis, I would expect me not to be able to pull apart (not tear) a Piece of fabric by holding one edge in each hand and pulling. So, I have a concern that this quilt is just going to fall apart. Nearly all of the squares are done, so I feel compelled to complete it.
Has anyone ever experienced anything like this? it does not appear that any bugs or anything got to the fabric, so I am at a loss. I would appreciate any insight, because it sort of pretty and would be a shame to have to lose it. Thanks.

I am a big skeptic of anything that is essentially, “free money”. However, since I am always looking for ways to keep up my fabric hoarding without taking money from our “living” budget, I looked into something I saw on the news and was pleasantly surprised. There are many apps available that say you earn money back by shopping. This usually involves online shopping. While I do some of that, I never was that interested. But, there are a couple of apps that give you money back for grocery shopping which is a necessary evil. In about 10 days, I have earned about $40.00. I didn’t buy anything that I would not have normally bought. It didn’t take a huge amount of time. Since I was already buying these things, why not let someone give me some money back to buy fabric? Free money in my opinion. I believe these companies are really collecting consumer data. They are interested in what all you buy, not just the things they are offering money back on. I am not sure I care if they know I have an addiction to Diet Pepsi. These sites are Ibotta and Checkout51. Each week, they add to the list of products that they are offering money back on. Some are brand specific, while others are not. You can use the same receipt for both sites. For example, they may offer you money back on a gallon of milk, any brand. Last week, there was an offer for $10.00 back if you purchased a 12 pack of bud light, a twelve pack of Pepsi and a bag of Tostitos. I needed all of these items for Super Bowl Sunday. You have to have at least $20 in your account to get your money. They offer multiple ways to get your money. Cash, PayPal and gift cards (Jo Ann was on the gift card list). There is also cash back options for Jo Ann Fabrics on Ibotta. Even if you don’t buy fabric there, everyone needs batting thread and other notions. Just want my quilting friends to have more money for quilt supplies. In the words of my daughter “Just Sayin”.

Well. my hospital hexies are finally looking like something. I feel like I have made progress. I believe my plan will be to make a scarf for my dresser. Seems fitting since I am the crazy dog lady. As I type this there is one at my feel and one on the chair next to 
me and one on my lap. This is a great travel project because everything I need fits into my little dog bag (of course). In my photo, you can see my Ruger. This was my late Husbands “Hunting Dog”. He weights six pounds and is scared of ants, so I am not sure what he would hunt. Cute as a button though. He is the only male dog in my herd, so he thinks any female is his. He frequently rolls all over me as if he is making me his and then gives Kevin the evil eye. Miss Moka’s paws are on the table where they should not be.
Other progress is with my beautiful daughter Miranda. I think I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. It has been six weeks now since her accident and she makes progress everyday. I update my Miranda’s Journey page often. It has saved me many many phone calls and texts. Friends and family know they can go to the page and get an update on how she is doing. We still have a long road ahead, but we will get their. Thanks to everyone for their support.
