My Hand Quilt Along Progress

Yes, I have some progress.  I am equally surprised.  I have been making a bunch of these flowers.  I started to get bored making them, so I started to put them together.  I have a “Grandma’s Flower Garden” quilt from my grandmother.  Mine is quite a bit louder than hers.  My background is yellow, hers was white and very fragile these days.  They were very well used.  I remember them being on the beds at her house.  I loved how heavy they felt when I slept under them.

My One Monthly Goal – Top Finished!

I managed to complete my moon and stars top for my One Monthly Goal.  You may be wondering why I can it the Moon and Stars Quilt.  Well, my plan is to make the circles my moons and then quilt stars every where else.  I have glow in the dark thread.

I also plan on piecing the back with some “Universe Panels/fabric”.  I happily found out last night that some of it is glow in teh dark.  I like weird stuff.

Hoping it turns out the way I have in my head.  So far, so good.

A Hand Quilt Along Miracle

I finally finished this runner for Kevin’s dresser.  It truly is a miracle.  This has been a good year in the making.  Funny thing, as I look at the photo, I realize that there is one extra row between the Ohio State dog bone and the black and pink dog bone.  I get that is what I get for winging it.  Never noticed it until I looked a the photo.

I actually even managed to quilt and bind this one (it is even on his dresser (finally).  I used a special ruler to quilt this one.  Why is it special?  I made my own dog bone ruler and it worked perfectly.  More on that later.  To see all the fabulous work by the rest of the ladies in the Hand quilt along please visit the following sites:

My one monthly Monstrosity (I mean Goal)

So, this monstrosity has been hanging around on my design board for month.  I don’t want to take it off because I don’t want to have to figure it out all over again.  With all my personal drama, it has just sat there annoying me, ridiculing me.  I have been sewing, just not on this project.  I need to finish the top so I can get it off my design board.  God knows there are a zillion other started projects awaiting their turn to be ignored.

I have not participated in the One Monthly Goal in a couple of months.  Too much going on.  Now that I am unemployed, there is no reason I can not finish this.

I finished something….and I can not get my act together

I finished the dinosaur quilt.  Well, that is easy when you get laid off and have no job. 20180917_133908 Right before the holidays.  Yeah.  Ugh.  Oh please, let me add some more crappy ass news (sorry for that).  My favorite uncle died on Thanksgiving day.  He was the last bit of my Mom that I had.  He had the best sense of humor.  He loved to tease my Mom (when she was still here), which us kids found hysterical.  He lived in Germany (that is where my other was from).  I loved when he called me.  He always made me laugh and it reminded me of Mom.  I will miss him dearly.

The picture is my Uncle Uwe, my dear sweet sister Kellie and my cousin Holger (who is coming to visit in August.  Very excited about that).  It is a great photo.  Holger and Kellie were about a year apart.  He came to live with my parents for a year and went to High School as a teenager with Kellie.

So, while job hunting, I am sewing, which is sort of good.  Helps to keep my mind of my super crappy life.

About the Dinosaur quilt (rant over)

It came out cute.  I really like it.  No fancy quilting, just meandering, which seemed to work fine for this quilt.  I pieced the back, which came out pretty good.  I find this adds personality to the quilt and takes way less fabrics.  I can use up random one yard pieces that I have.

I feel guilty for not reading everyone’s blog, I need to get back to that.  it is one of my happy places.  I really love to see what everyone is doing.
