I am still here and I managed to finish my One Monthly Goal

Ok, It still needs ironed.  I will get to that.  Honestly, seems like a miracle that I finished anything thing, let alone my One Monthly Goal.  This month has been crazy.  I had the flu and I managed to get shingles for a second time.  So, for a good two weeks, I laid around and did very little.  When I get sick I am not allowed to take my Rheumatoid arthritis medication, so then there is the added effects of that.  I am feeling better, finally.  Not 100%, but on my way.  I feel like I have been away from my blog forever.  I have missed seeing everyone’s wonderful work.  Need to get caught up on my reading.  I truly believe, if not for the One monthly Goal, I would not have finished a thing this month, including my I wish you a merry Quilt Along Top.

So about my holiday quilt top.  I needed to use up my snowflake fabric, so that is what I used for sashing.  Not sure how I feel about the top.  Need to look at it a while longer before I decide.  I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and has a wonderful 2018.

Block #12 I wish you a Merry Quilt Along

Wow, time flies when you are having fun.  My twelfth block of the I wish You a Merry WaterMark_2017-12-09-22-17-55Quilt Along is complete.  I went a bit off the directions with my display of the lights.  It is windy outside and my lights are being blown all different directions.  I kept with all my snowflake themed fabric. that I have collected over the years.  I never thought that I would use them.  Just always liked snowflake fabric.  This quilt already looks festive and it is not even completed.

Now to figure out how to put them all together.  Since completing the top is my one monthly goal, I should figure it out.  I have a couple of ideas.  Just not sure on which one aI will settle on.

I certainly do wish everyone a very festive and happy holiday season.

My new bag for Guild Meetings and My one Monthly Goal

M friend Lynn was harassing me because every time we go to a Guild meeting I am bringing my stuff in a Kroger shopping bag.  So, I made myself a guild bag.  What could be more perfect for the crazy dog lady?  A dog bag made with pet screen.  I always wanted to try something with pet screen and had bought a piece a while back.  No pattern, I just sort of winged it.  I like it.  It is sturdy and functional.

So, my one monthly goal for December, is to put together my top for the I wish you a WaterMark_2017-12-02-18-51-12Merry Quilt along.  It will be a lot considering that Christmas is right around the corner.  I do have some vacation, but who knows what we will be doing.  So, I will have to make block #12 and figure out how to put it all together before the year ends.  Fingers crossed.

Block #11 The North Star IWYAMQA

This is my block #11, The North Star from the I wish you a Merry Quilt Along. The North StarI totally don’t like my block.  I saw so many beautiful blocks and I had something in mind,  but that is not how it turned out.  I am not a paper piecer usually and had to tear out multiple times.  Notice the threads everywhere?  I don’t currently have the patience to make another one.  I needed to stick with my snowflake themed fabric, but somehow, I sort of wanted it reversed, meaning that I wanted the purple on the outside.  Not much I am going to do about that now.  I will be interested to see what the final block looks like.  Not sure how I will put this all together, but I should be thinking about it.

Ohio State Buckeyes are the Big 10 champions, but sadly will not get to play in the national championship.  Thus ends our college football hopes for the year.  I am sure there will some kind of bowl game they get to play in.  Go Bucks.

A Miracle-I finished a block – I wish you a Merry Quilt Along Block #10

I certainly have not been myself lately.  I seem to get so little accomplished.  Between running around to swim practice and work I hardly have any time to sew.  I do take some hand work to swim.  This past Tuesday I was sitting at  table making flower hexies and a women sat down next to me and started laying them out on the table.  She then proceeded to give me her phone number so I could teach her how to do it.  It was quite funny.  I will always help anyone learn to quilt.

I did manage to finish Block #10 for the I wish you a merry Quilt along.  It was quite a miracle for me to get anything done.  So much to do and next week is Thanksgiving.  I can’t even think about that. It is too much.  I do have a couple of days off, so if I am lucky I will get some sewing time in.  The problem is my mind is going in a million directions for new projects that I really do not need to start.  I have so many started already.  I totally have QADD.

QADD – A look into the mind of someone suffering from this disorder

Quilting Attention Deficit Disorder (QADD).  I swear it is a real thing.  Just look at that table.  Oh wait, while it a table, it used to be our pool table.  So, needless to say, I have so many projects going on that I got absolutely nothing accomplished the entire week.

Currently, my daughter is on the swim team, which involves practice 4 out 5 nights a week.  Then there are the swim meets that are on the weekend.  This past weekend on Saturday at 5am we had to leave to spend the entire day at the pool.  Totally exhausting.  I have concluded, when I have a lot going on in my personal life, I can’t seem to concentrate on getting anything done in my sewing room.

I worked on this and that, but could not concentrate on anything.  I need to finish my block #10 for I wish you a Merry quilt along, but only managed to get part of it cut out.  I did some quilting in the ditch (which I did not like) on a table topper that has been sitting around a while.  While I was at the swim meet I did some hand work (EPP), but forgot my thimble and quit when my fingers started hurting.  I cut out pieces for a poinsettia table topper that I really did not need to start. Oh yes, and I started making a quilted bag (it is the blue blob in the photo).  Something else I did not need to start.  I have a pile of Christmas Fabric that I wanted to make a table topper out of (leftover from my Jingle bell tree).  Have not figured that out yet.  And I am working on a secret project that I can’t talk about, in case any of the recipients read my blog (wishful thinking).

And, Thanksgiving is less than 2 weeks away.  The only plus side to that is a couple of days off, which I totally need.  But it also beings about anxiety.  I will need to clean off that pool table in case we have guests that might actually want to play pool?  seriously who wants to play pool when we could be playing with fabric?  Apparently I am alone with those thoughts in my home.  So, I have to prepare to have a smaller work area for a few weeks.  I will need to cut a bunch of stuff so I can  just sew.

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer…

Had a very red nose in this case.  I like Rudolph.  I might like a quilt with all the reindeer.

I will say that all these pieces were a bit reminiscent of the dog quilt I am working on.  Used a lot of the same methods and tiny pieces, so this one I did not think was all that bad.  I managed to stick with my snow flaked themed fabric.  I think it is coming together nicely.  I find I am really enjoying the “I Wish you A Merry Quilt Along“.

It is never too late to get started.  You can still get links to all the blocks from several places.  Snowy Days Quilting did this block and you can find the link to all others there too.

I Wish You a Merry Quilt Along Block #8

Well, I managed to get something done after my “Hot Tub Incident“.  I didn’t exactly follow the instructions for this block.  I guess I had something else on my mind.  I think it goes well with all my other blocks and I got to use more of my snowflake fabric.

Thank you to everyone for their well wishes.  It was truly appreciated.  A special thank you to Nanette Chopin Cook for calling to check on me.  It really made my day.  Quilters really are the nicest people.

Today was my quilt guilds “Quilt Wars”.  We drew cards to determine what group we were in and were given a bag of fabric.  Then we had to work together to create a top.  It was quite enjoyable.  They will all be quilted and given to charity.  I was so busy I neglected to get any pictures.  I am sure they will bring them to the next meeting.  Glad I felt well enough to attend.  It is good to get out and be with like-minded people.

So, for my One monthly goal, I finally got to work on the test dog block.  I got everything cut out and even started sewing it.

My mind is always wandering to other projects, but I have so many already started, not to mention the holidays are right around the corner.  Must get to work

Block #6 I wish you a Merry Quilt Along

Had to stick with my snowflaked themed fabric.  As crazy as this sounds, all these different colors are from the same piece of fabric.  It started with small snowflakes and the dark purple and changed colors and snowflake sizes about every 14 inches.  I think it goes well with the other blocks.  I thought I had my sashing figured out, but now I am not so sure.  Maybe trying to plan in advance was not such a good idea.  I need to wait a bit longer.  Trying to imagine what the next blcoks will be like.  For Instructions, please visit Sandy Star Designs.

Finally got Caught up on my Free Quilt Blocks, but lack inspiration

I really like this quilt.  I think it might be because I love Orange Fabrics.  I never feel like any shop has enough Orange Fabric or it is because Red Rooster Quilts gives me the fabric for free.  One block every two weeks.  It is not just for fall or Halloween.  My daughter Haley actually likes this quilt.  That is a surprise since she usually has something negative to say about my quilts.  This is a quilt I will keep for me and hang up somewhere in the house.

Been feeling a little uninspired lately.  I have many many projects started, but don’t feel like working on any of them.  I have like 4 quilts that need quilted, laying on the pool table, multiple other projects started.  Yet, I just stare off into oblivion.  I usually have more time on the weekends to work on my craft, but I always get a pile of things ready for during the week, even if I only have a few minutes, I usually sit down and sew some of these things, so they are ready for the weekend.  The pile is still sitting there untouched and then there is Block #6 for I wish you a Merry Quilt Along.  Need to get that done.  It does not look to hard, some piecing, some applique.  I will get to it, eventually.
