I soooooo don’t feel like myself. I really need to get out of this funk.
I need to apologize to the wonderful ladies in the hand quilt along. I had no post. Mostly because I find myself sitting on the couch staring into the abyss instead of doing my hand work. Please take the time to visit them and see all the wonderful work that they do.

The Puzzle Quilt
So, the above pictured quilt I have names the puzzle quilt. Why? Well, my dear friend Nanette, sent me a bunch of blocks and pieces to this quilt (well, not really this quilt, but a quilt). So, I took all the pieces that I had and figured out what I could make. I don’t know what the quilt was originally intended to look like, but this is what I came up with. The only thing I added was the black borders. My daughter has claimed this quilt since it is her school colors and is referring to it as the Triad quilt. I found it very fun and challenging to figure something out. I wish I had taken pictures of what I started with, but got involved and completely forgot.
Table Runner for a gift
So, I needed a gift, so I created this table runner. It was actually a challenge I started last year about this time and never finished. I don’t do well with quilting deadlines. I used those cupcake papers (Like the layer cake ones, only for charms).
They have a purpose and I get it, but all the paper everywhere makes me a little crazy. Also, these pin wheels are pretty small, so it is bulky where the seams come together. I will likely use the papers again, but I am not a fan of these small pinwheels. One it is complete, I don’t think it will look too bad.
On a positive note, I have lost 20 lbs. Woohoo. Only 5 million more to go. That is about the only positive that I can find. I am still unemployed, which totally stresses me out. I know it is a process and it will happen, but I don’t do well with things I can’t control.
Today, while I was wallowing in self-pity, I did take a moment to notice the beauty
around me. I took these beautiful pictures of snowflakes in my daughter’s hair.
Happy Sewing
Happy Quilting

Those are lovely snowflakes. Congrats on the weightloss. And trust that the right opportunity will come along. I know it’s hard, I’ve been in the same boat lately (and I feel guilty taking a job for six to eight months while I apply to grad school). It will work out, hopefully sooner than later;-).

Oh my goodness – I love that you captured the snowflakes! You can see so much detail in just the photos of her hair. I forget how amazing snowflakes are. And you lost 20 pounds – amazing! And you made a table runner – see you are doing fine 🙂

Your table runner looks great. I will have to look up what cupcake papers are when it refers to quilting. Good job on the weight loss. I love the snowflakes. We have received a lot of snow lately due to the atmospheric river so I took some photos of the yard, but I didn’t think to try to find any snowflakes.

First congrats on the 20 pounds – I feel so much better since I lost my 20 and now 22 pounds – 8 more to go! The last 10 are the hardest! I will be back at my Age 52 weight! Yea!
You did a wonderful job with what I sent you! Good for you Lori! Hope things are going well.

Lovely work, Lori – on the quilt, the runner, the snowflakes, and the weight loss. Perhaps you should be feeling triumphant. The work issue is a stressor, for sure, I know. I am sending good thoughts your way for a great opportunity.

I’m sorry you’re feeling low lately. I’ve been there so many times. You have done some amazing things though – losing 20 pounds is nothing to sneeze at, it’s hard work and takes persistence and determination – and just like our stitching, every little bit counts and makes you healthier. The snowflakes on your daughter’s hair are magical as are your quilts. Hang in there, the right job will come.
