I will give it a try….

So, I am going to try and participate in the One Monthly Goal. I have missed two months. I am not sure I am going to be successful in any way. This is the lightning bug block I turned into a baby quilt. Decided that I did not want to make 15 more of these. My goal is to get it quilted. Not sure if I can manage this goal or not, it just depends on what happens. I may need to quilt to keep my mind off of things. I will at least give it shot. I do wonder what color I should use for the quilting. I am thinking maybe a pale yellow, but I am not sure.

Sadly, My sister has taken a turn for the worse. She is currently in a coma and on life

support. I spent 5 days in Cleveland and returned home yesterday. It was a heart wrenching time, sitting, waiting and thinking. The prognosis is not good. I now, just wait for my phone to ring and panic every time it does.

The picture is the day she got married to her wonderful and caring husband Matt. She is walking with my Dad, who I miss terribly, especially now. They are two of my most favorite people in the world. Dad is smiling and Kellie is so beautiful. I don’t want to lose my best friend, yet it is so hard watching her suffer. I want her to have peace, whatever that means. My sister has 2 children, they are 18 and 21. My heart hurts for them. Her husband, Matt, is so wonderful with her. He does not miss a day or a doctor. He keeps everything straight and knows every detail of what is going on. He has had to make some very hard decisions. He is a wonderful man.

  3. Lori, I am so sorry you have to go thru this. My prayers are with you and yours. I know what you mean, by not wanting your sister to suffer, but dreading the time without her. Be kind to yourself, in deeds as well as thoughts. You are an inspiration to your readers. If you don’t reach your pre-set goals, no worries, please. Spend time with God and thinking of good times with your sister.

  4. Lori peace be with you. In the last few months I experienced some loses, first my stepmother, and 5 weeks later my mother. One of the things I found most difficult emotionally was how devastating the loss was to those that loved them most. It is difficult to be strong during a time like this. I’m certain your presence provided peace and comfort to those around you, but oh how painful it is to lose someone. My heart is with you. The quilting will provide a distraction, albeit small. Take time for yourself.

  5. I am so sorry to hear about your sister, will keep her, you and the rest of the family in my prayers. I love the quilt you came up with, and I agree not sure if I would want to make several more either. I could see a pale yellow for the stitching, but my all time classic favorite is the good ole white. Good luck with staying on your Month Goal. Stay positive!!!

  6. Hi Lori, OMG. I had no idea your sister has taken such a hard turn. It is so difficult. Peace is a wonderful thing to pray for, for all of you. My heart goes out to her dear husband and children, not to mention you. {{Hugs}} a bunch. Quilting may just ease your mind and heart for a short while, and the pale yellow thread would be lovely. Know that all of your quilting friends are sending you love, hugs and support along with prayers. Each of us would love to fix this for you and of course we cannot. I wish for you peace and comfort. ~smile~ Roseanne
