So, for my One Monthly Goal, I am going to completely finish this baby quilt. It needs quilted and bound. It has been laying over the gate entrance to my room, for months. It is just staring at me. Since I am now imaging my unfinished quilts are staring at me, I should probably just complete. Then, my non completion guilt should go away….maybe, there are a lot of those pieces.
The one monthly Goal has been so helpful in helping to get items completed. I very much have that personality that if I say I am going to complete something, then I am going to do it.
For this year I would like to finish all the tops that I have lying around. I am not sure how many I actually have. I would guess 7 or 8. That is a fairly tall order, but it would be great to get done.
I won’t say that I won’t start any new projects, but I do not want to buy fabric to start a new project. I can purchase stuff to finish things, but I am trying to avoid going out and buying fabric to start new quilts. We will see how that goes.
Happy Sewing
Happy Quilting
Excellent plan, Lori. If you get half of them finished you will enjoy a great sense of accomplishment!

I like your “one monthly goal” idea. I think I’ll try it. I try to cram too much into my days and weeks. Simpler is better. 🙂

I am very like you, if I say I’ll do something I usually set my sights first on that main goal. I love the top so should make a lovely quilt.

Great plan, Lori. I participated in a UFO challenge for several years and was amazed at how much I accomplished. Last year I actually didn’t participate as I had under 10 UFOs and some of them were long term projects. I signed up this quarter though as I find myself OVER the 10 mark again…how did that happen? 😉

Glad to hear I am not along. Best of luck on your UFO’s.

Hi Lori!! Happy New Year! Great goals and certainly do-able. I hated projects that stared at me and nagged. Yes, NAGGED! “Hey lady! Over here! How about a little binding? You just gonna leave me hanging around?” Oh, unfinished projects can be noisy! Sometimes I’d answer back and tell them they’re lucky they’re not stuffed in a drawer. Those projects can be noisy too but at least the sound is muffled. (Yes, I’m totally insane. LOL) Now, I make myself do at least 20 minutes of a sewing related “something” every day. It’s just 20 minutes, ya know? It might be just finding the thread and getting it set out, one half of loading the longarm, laying out quilt blocks, etc. On good days, something actually gets under the needle. If time allows me more than 20 of her precious minutes then yay! But I’ve found that slipping in 20 minutes every day calms my spirit and goes a long way toward project completion. I tend to get a little pissy when a button needs to be sewn on because now my 20 mins have been cheated from me but so goes the life of a stitcher. 🙂 I wish you all the best in the new year Lori. You’re in my prayers for happiness and peace. ((hugs!))

Hi Becky,
I have been trying to devote at least 15 minutes to sewing each day. Until the holiday rush set in anyway. Now I hope to be back to it! It is surprising how much one can accomplish in a short time, even if it’s as you mentioned locating a certain thread. Happy New Year to you! ~smile~ Roseanne

We sound very similar! I like your 20 minutes a day idea. I get so grouchy when I don’t get to work on things. Happy New Year!

Your not the only one trying to avoid buying more fabric! I have boxes of scraps that I need to use, so I am seriously trying to harden my heart to anymore that call my name until I use up the scraps I have. Friends cheering us on to do our work truly is a big booster to getting things done.😀

I fee; the same way about scraps. But, so hard to do…..

Hi Lori,
I love your plan to not purchase any new fabric except to finish a project. That is a great idea and one I should adhere to as well. The OMG seems to be working well for me also. I only say I can complete something if I truly believe I can, and then I darn well better. HAHA. I have a few quilt tops lying around waiting to be quilted also. New Year’s day I gathered them all up and layered them. One step closer to being finished whenever I have the time and inclination. ~smile~ Roseanne

Good Idea, I should layer mine. That would be one step closer. Thanks.

Hi,
Love the quilt, beautiful. I tend to make small quilts, but I hate putting
them together, So OMG is getting me motivated to get them done. Good
luck with your goals this month. Have a great day!

This will be a sweet quilt – especially when it stops giving you a guilt trip. ;D

I like your baby quilt and the fact that you are working on projects daily. It is difficult to do the quilting when one still has to work. Heck – if I could stay healthy this year I should be able to complete a lot more than the last 3. The OMG and the 6 in 6 will help me stay focused. It is so hard to stay focused when we read the different blogs and such different quilts – I want to make them all! Hope your week end is great – still cool and overcast – maybe some sun later in the day!

I always want to make everything I see. This is why I have at least 12 projects I am working on at once. I need to win the lottery so I can stay at home and quilt…..and visit all my quilting friends 🙂
