This is my block #11, The North Star from the I wish you a Merry Quilt Along. The North StarI totally don’t like my block. I saw so many beautiful blocks and I had something in mind, but that is not how it turned out. I am not a paper piecer usually and had to tear out multiple times. Notice the threads everywhere? I don’t currently have the patience to make another one. I needed to stick with my snowflake themed fabric, but somehow, I sort of wanted it reversed, meaning that I wanted the purple on the outside. Not much I am going to do about that now. I will be interested to see what the final block looks like. Not sure how I will put this all together, but I should be thinking about it.
Ohio State Buckeyes are the Big 10 champions, but sadly will not get to play in the national championship. Thus ends our college football hopes for the year. I am sure there will some kind of bowl game they get to play in. Go Bucks.
Happy Sewing
Happy Quilting
I don’t know Lori, when they are all out together, I think the star works well with the others. One block left?

Oh I love the purple shades Lori, your star is so pretty and the background works because some of your other blocks have that background too.

I think your purple star looks great! You are way too critical of yourself. =) I have one more day to make mine. How did I get down to the wire again?

Doing a good job Lori! I also do not do paper pieceing! I know most quilters do to get perfect points, but I have learned through the years how to get the same effect with my piecing, BUT sometimes it takes time to do the ripping to correct errors. So I have learned to set the machine to a slow speed and be more careful and it does yield less ripping! LOL. You will have a very nice Christmas quilt!
I am saving the pattern for next year!

Your star looks great. Its hard to know what techniques sexists like when doing things that are this large scale. I love the way yours turned out!

I think you should wait until the last block is made and you have chosen the final arrangement before you make a decision on this block. I think it has great potential! 🙂

I think your star looks great! I love purple! You know I’m not a big OSU fan but I was disappointed they didn’t make the final four selection. So sad that the Big 10 isn’t represented this year!
