I am not sure why this block gave me fits, but it certainly did. I still don’t like how the scarf looks, but I am going to have to live with it. I have never been interested in making a holiday quilt before. Not sure why since I was collecting snowflake fabric, but I didn’t have much else. A few scraps of this and that that I am not even sure where they came from. I do like these blocks. I think it will make a cute quilt. All the tiny pieces certainly did test my patience though. I had to go back and cut things multipe times becase I lost track of the pieces. I now know for sure that one of the quilts I have planned will make me crazy for sure becasue it has a bunch of tiny pieces. Dredding it already. Haley gave her seal of approval on the snowman block. That is a surprise becasue she has something to say about everything. It does look sort of cute.
Starting to imagine what the other blocks will look like. I have a couple ideas of things I think we will see.
This past week has not been very production for me from a sewing persepctive. Lot’s going on in my personal life and then I thought I was catching a cold, which is a no-no when you take biologic drugs for rheumatoid arthiritis. I think I managed to kill it with Zi-cam, which tastes awful by the way, but it seemed to do the trick. Hope to get some things done tomorrow.
Happy Sewing
Happy Quilting

I think the scarf fits with the geometric shapes of the snowman’s body. Those little arms look difficult. Are they appliquéd on afterwards?

Yes, I applique mine. Looks harder than it was. Thanks

I broke down and purchased Alpha Bitties. They seem frivolous on the surface because you can do the same with tiny post it notes, but they actually work. I’m doing a quilt with tons of tiny pieces and they have kept it all straight.

That is a cute snowman, but I would have been begging for a paper pieced pattern on that one! Tiny pieces do make me nervous!! Hope you are feeling 100% soon.

Thanks Kathy. I should get lessons from you on paper piecing. It scares me.

It scared me too, until I did it in the Splendid Sampler. One of the gals that did the sampler too, was always converting blocks to paper piecing. I’m not sure I’d be a very good teacher, but I’m to the point where I know when it might be worth trying! It does making piecing tiny stuff much more accurate, I think.

That’s really cute, and very impressive, I wouldn’t know where to begin (I love the background fabric too!)

Your snowman looks so happy! Love the snowflakes on red, that’s unusual – I usually see blue with snowflakes. But the red is perky and matches Santa! Nice.

I love your snowman block. Those little pieces on the scarf gave me problems also. I think my fingers are just too chubby for small pieces.

Yours is great! I like all your blocks together. Mine is started, but I got interrupted and hope to get back to it tomorrow. I’m running out of days!
