I guess I just don’t like anything this week.

Ever have one of those weeks when nothing looks right to you?  I feel like that is where I am right now.  I really loved this mum print fabrics in fall colors.  However, once I crated something with it, I find I don’t like it as much as I did when I was just ogling over the fabric.  I look at them and wonder If I should have used a dark blue solid instead of the green?  But, I like green.  I don’t know.  Maybe it will look better when it is all put together.  I just don’t know.

Maybe I should of just walked away last night when I sewed something completely backwards.  Usually a clear sign to stop what you are doing for a bit.  Unfortunately, I never take my own advice.

Happy Sewing

Happy Quilting

Happy Friday

  1. You know, sometimes we are our harshest critics.
I know what you mean about times that NOTHING looks right.
I usually send a photo of the problem product to my sister.
She is an artist and I love to have her look at it.
She gives great suggestions and support.
It always helps to have a second pair of eyes.
I find it also helps to set it aside for awhile.
My QOV is sitting in a bin because I am at an impasse as to what to do next.
I think the colors and fabric you chose go well together.
I am interested in seeing the end results.

  2. Hi Lori, you have described my no sewing week – just hoop jumping.
The only thing that you might consider is color contrast. I had to learn this one. If you look at the yellow and green there is contrast – a medium and a dark. I would use a lighter green and see if you like it better. The other three have no contrast and that is why the pinwheel is not showing up like you want it to.

Hope your weekend is better. I am drowning in Drama here! UGH

    1. Such an interesting comment! I didn’t even notice the contrast issues until you pointed it out. Now I feel like I will always see such a thing because it is so obvious. I wouldn’t say the yellow one is the good one though – if she’s going for a subdued look, the others would be the winners. But there is definitely a “one of these things is not like the others” thing going on here.

  3. Hey Lori, what about a more scrappy effect using some light green as mentioned above, and some with a cream? Just brainstorming with you. I like the green you have, maybe just some lighter ones to go along with it?

  4. Lori, I don’t think there is anything wrong with your color choices. If you quilt only the green sections, the windmills will pop out and change the appearance completely. Will you be adding sashing, border or binding? If so, play with a neutral color or perhaps use some color wheel principles. No worries, just have fun.
